About Mountain Equipment Company

Revamped from Mountain Equipment Co-op, MEC was founded in 1971 in Vancouver, BC and became a chain of retail stores selling equipment and clothing made for outdoor recreation while contributing to ethical and environmental causes. They host their own products alongside many well-known outerwear brands, such as North Face, Patagonia, Salomon and more. With hundreds of stores in dozens of cities in Canada. MEC products and designs are made in Canadian factories in Vancouver and tested on the North Shore mountain ranges in BC. Their products include athleisure, hiking, camping and watersports gear, footwear, travel gear and more, made to fit any interest, occasion, or lifestyle.
